Newsrec tournament 2022 kick started today hosted by Limpopo Province.
National Employee Wellness Sports Recreation (NEWSREC) tournament started where participants of various sporting codes from different Provinces welcomed by the Acting HoD of Limpopo - Department of Transport and Community Safety, Mr Steve Matjena. North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management is part of the team's to log heads with other Provinces and National Departments, in the following sporting codes such as, Soccer (open and veterans), Ladies soccer, Golf, Volleyball, Tennis, Netball (open & veterans). The department is a defending champions in an open male soccer and Ladies soccer categories, won in 2019 when the same tournament held in Cape Town - Western Cape Province. During his welcoming address Acting HoD Matjena said "I'm pleased we meet again after two (2) years of ravaging Covid 19 where we lost heroes and heroines who should be here with us but unfortunately succumbed to this decease". He further said "You are all winners by just coming to participate in 2022 NEWSREC tournament from your respective Provinces and enjoy your stay in the Province of Peace, Limpopo. A healthy mind is a healthy body. Concluded Matjena. The tournament is an annual event which aims in promoting wellness and healthy lifestyle amongst government officials across the country. The following participating departments are as follows, Department of Public Works Roads and Infrastructure, and National and Provincial Departments of Transport and Community Safety.
